Castel Monastero is a proud sponsor of English National team on the occasion of the 2011 European Polo Playoffs for the IX World Polo Championships, to be held in October in Argentina.

Castel Monastero will host all the participating National teams as well as many VIP guests.

The tournaments will take place at VAS – Villa Sesta Polo Club from 22nd September to 2nd October 2011.

Armed with mallets and astride magnificent, well-trained horses, teams from Italy, England, Holland, Spain, France and Germany will challenge each other for first and second place, ensuring their admission to the final round of the World Polo Championships.

In honor of the Playoffs, the VAS Polo Club has organized accommodations for athletes and spectators. VAS intends to make this a memorable event, one which will mark the start of a new era for the game of polo in Italy.

It will no longer be elitist and reserved to a select few, but instead will become a unifying force for the many people who love this exciting game.
The rhythmic pounding of hoof beats on soft grass, the harsh crack of the bamboo mallet against the ball, the fusion between horse and rider and the concentration apparent on the players’ faces are all characteristics which add to the sport’s appeal. Throughout polo’s history, these elements have led so many spectators to fall in love with the game, often to the point of becoming enthusiastic and indefatigable players.

Our national team will face England, Spain, France, Germany, and Holland in a 14-goal handicap tournament whose results will determine the two teams which qualify for the final phase of the World Championships, to be held October 10-22 in San Luis, Argentina. The two qualifying teams will then compete against the other national teams which have already qualified: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, United States, India, Pakistan, and Australia.
