Even Dante was struck by the beauty of the walls of Monteriggioni, built in the 13th century, and added it to some verses from the Inferno, in the 31st canto: “For as above its circular enclosure Monteriggioni crowns itself with towers, so with half their body the horrible giants, whom Jove still threatens from heaven when he thunders, betowered the bank that surrounds the abyss.”

On the top of a hill, this extraordinary defensive wall and its rectangular turrets remain perfectly intact. It is a corner of art in Tuscany, in which to experience the charm of a land that is like no other in the world.
