In the Maremma region, 8 km from Sovana, Pitigliano lies on a majestic mountain ridge.

The facades of the houses seem to emerge straight from the rocks, like in a dream. Medieval and Renaissance blend harmoniously. Evidence of the noble Orsini family, once lords of this earldom, are notable. Still today it is exciting to lose yourself aimlessly in the small streets of the historic centre, stumbling by chance upon the beautiful arches of the 16th century aqueduct.

The Jewish ghetto, created in the 16th century when a number of Jews expelled from the Papal States took refuge in Pitigliano, is painfully beautiful. Since those times, the city has been remembered as “Little Jerusalem”.
